Another Way to get Paid for Clipping Coupons!
69It's so easy, you'll never believe it!
If you're like me, you've already done a little window shopping on eBay, just to see if certain coupons for your favorite products are actually available. Nine out of ten times, they are.
You'll see very low prices on these coupons, which are often sold in "lots" of 6- 20 coupons, and the prices always start at $0.99. If these sales are up for 'auction' rather than 'buy it now', the price can rise rather quickly. Certain coupons are in such high demand (like Gatorade, Miracle Whip and toilet paper) the bidding can go as high as $15- $20 for each lot.
So instead of buying these coupons- why not sell them?
Coupons are unlike any other item being sold today on eBay. Coupons themselves cannot legally be "sold"; rather, what you are selling is your "time", which you spend clipping the coupons. eBay will insist you include this disclaimed in your add, but these guidelines are laid out for you when you place the ad.
I never realized how much money one can make 'selling' coupons; these are items that people NEVER have enough of, and purchase repeatedly on an on- going basis. You will get repeat customers from all over the world. Some of the 'sellers' I've interviewed make $1000 monthly on a regular basis. Who knew?
So, a few key tips for 'selling' you coupons on eBay:
1) CLIP EVERY COUPON YOU FIND. This will mean buying several papers throughout the week; you will need to keep track of what inserts come out on which days and in which papers. Creating a chart or spread sheet on Excel will help you a lot in this area.
Keep all of your coupons separate, by product. You may only have four coupons of one certain product, but someone some where will buy that lot from you. You could also create 'coupon packages' that include three or four coupons of several different products. Larger lots of coupons can be listed for a larger price.
Don't worry if you don't use the products listed in the coupons you clip. Check out eBay; there are lots of coupons listed for items you might not use. So, clip every single coupon & list them all!
2) BE COMPLETE AND HONEST IN YOUR EBAY LISTING. This means including the coupon expiration date, pictures of the coupon itself, and information included on the coupon. Include if the coupon is for "any size" or a specific size.
3) SHIP COUPONS IMMEDIATELY UPON BUYER PAYMENT. Be sure the address is printed clearly on the envelope and stick it in the mail right away! The quicker your item arrives, the better rating that buyer will give you, indicating to other buyers on eBay how reliable you are, and making them more apt to buy from you.
4) KEEP TRACK OF YOUR EARNINGS. Create an Excel spreadsheet. Input your debits (postage/ envelope cost, eBay listing costs, newspaper costs, etc) and credits (all of your income from eBay), and compare the two; this will tell you how much money you're making.
5) CREATE A SEPARATE BANK ACCOUNT solely for you eBay expenses and income. This will ensure you remain professional and alert with your new eBay business.
Good luck!
